Anaheim, California (February 23, 2005). "Anime fans are anxiously anticipating the largest and most electrifying Anime Expo ever," said Jennifer Pon, chief executive officer of The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation. "And we're thrilled to announce the addition of Japanese animation favorites such as Artist Kazue Yamamoto, Character Designer/Animation Director Hiroshi Osaka and Voice Actress/Songstress Maaya Sakamoto as Guests of Honor at Anime Expo 2005 (AX2005), set for July 1-4 at the Anaheim Convention Center." ANIME EXPO is also excited to announce the attendance of the widely popular and famous Ms. Maaya Sakamoto, courtesy of Geneon Entertainment, Inc. Maaya Sakamoto is a highly accomplished voice actress and singer. She is probably best known for her role as the voice of "Hitomi Kanzaki" in the ultra-popular anime TV series, "The Vision of Escaflowne." It was her first lead role in an anime, and at 15 years old, she was the same age as the character she played. Ms. Sakamoto also debuted as a professional singer in Escaflowne, performing the opening theme song for the series in addition to some of the show's insert songs, bringing to the anime music world an enchanting and lyrical new voice. Since then, Ms. Sakamoto has gone on to perform voice roles in several other well-known anime series, they include: "El Hazard: The Alternative World," "Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight," "Omishi Magical Theater Risky Safety," ".hack//SIGN," and, more recently, "Rahxephon" and "Wolf's Rain." Several of these series have also featured her vocal talents in either the opening or ending themes. Ms. Sakamoto's current projects include "Gunbuster 2," "Gundam Seed Destiny," "Fantastic Children," and a role in the highly anticipated new Square Enix movie, "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children." Ms. Sakamoto also continues to enjoy a successful singing career and has released 5 albums and 2 popular singles collections to date; all of which include collaborations with the equally gifted composer of the music from Escaflowne and numerous other anime, Yoko Kanno. Ms. Sakamoto has also displayed further musical talent by writing the lyrics for several of the songs on her most recent album, Shounen Alice.

I fear your reprise... but.... suddenly Maaya is 3 hours away in car! XD

I am happy and confusingly guilty at this news, since i was not expecting her to make more appearences around here, maybe she just decided to stop by (it is in her way back to Japan). I was making plans to go to Texas... expensive plans... thanks for the news... and um..... i'll do my best to bring you something! :oops:

A letter that searches for Maaya from the other side of the world... sounds romantic. Why have we not made an official letter from all of us?, lets put a little message (say a page), and send it as a fanclub of hers, that way, she will know there are people longing for her appearence in Europe... and Mexico, and Brazil, probably in the moon too.

That's a nice ideia. I suggest that we first write something like "WE LOVE MAAYA". And then "suggest" that she could do a trip around the world.

No, seriously, what we could say is that, in a near future (before we all die), she could go to another countries, or something like that. And would we write the letter in japanese? Since she's not fluent in english.

Hey O_o that a great idea...what if we write a letter, and send to everyone thats active in this forum to sign then send to her? She would get very happy and we too, knowing that now she knows that we love her so much =]

and we could write in a very big piece of paper, or maybe in several pieces of paper XD like those crazy things they send to the guiness book

Hi!!! How I wish I live in the USA :'( but I loves the Idea of givinging her a letter from us all and maybe we could have someone film the presentation or record it (like in Otakon 99, I have Yoko Kanno playing live in mp3 ^_^) That would be wonderful
I think she would be very happy if people from this Unofficial Fan club in both expos (yeah Nicole keep dreaming you'll go to one of them

i know that i alone wont get a big reaction from Sakamoto-sama...but if we send a letter w/ , like, at least 30 signs from various countries im sure that she will pay attention on us
