Maaya's view of 'Kissing the christmes killer' is really dark. The song is so eerie too.
Convieniently her dream of a global gastronomic tour coincides with mine. It's still feb so maybe I should send her my confession...

Hot News (3/10)

◎ Recent △
The release of my new song 'Triangler' has been set! As the title indicates, triangle is the keyword, and, thanks to that, lately, when I see something of a triangle shape, I can't ignore it. Everyone, onigiri are more △ than ○!
◎ Recent PV Shoot
We shot a PV for 'Triangler'! We gave it a triangle motif. It was very cold when I did the PV shoot, but, thanks to the warm support of the same staff who helped me with the 'Saigo no Kajitsu' shoot, we were able to have fun.
◎ Recent Jacket Shoot
We also gave the jacket a triangle motif. This shoot was done inside, so it was comfortable. I cut my hair, and wore spring-like clothes, and we took pictures that are perfect for an April single release.
◎ Recent Fanclub
I've started my 'IDLING STOP!' event tour. Sapporo, Sendai, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo. Everyone who is planning to come! I'm looking forward to seeing you at the venue.
◎ Recent Cooking
I've been really into rice recently, and I've been eating it almost every day. I have brown rice, and change the ingredients each time. The ingredients I like are azuki beans, pumpkin, hijiki seaweed, kimchi, and, sometimes, tomato & cheese. It's delicious & healthy.
Also: Maaya's starting a monthly column in the Japanese Newtype! It's called 「坂本真綾の満腹論」 ('Sakamoto Maaya no Manpukuron'), which translates to something like 'Sakamoto Maaya's Feast Essays'. Her columns will be accompanied by illustrations by the same animation team that did the Universe PV, Gekidan Inucurry. Sounds like it'll be cute. :D

There's also going to be an interview in Animage on 'Triangler'.

Manpukuron... makes me think of Shiina Ringo's first single, "Koufukuron", which got translated as "Theory of Happiness." Along those lines, this could become "Theory of a Full Stomach" ...or something XD

Maaya recently updated I.D. to talk about her fanclub tour.
・・・the id : 2008.3.28

『A Grateful Birthday Party』

The 2008 fanclub event has ended safely! Everyone who came, thank you very much!

I wanted to surprise everyone and, more than anything, I wanted to convey my feelings of 'thank you', so I prepared a surprise: to play piano accompaniment for 'NO FEAR/Ai Suru Koto'. I've been practicing steadily with an electric keyboard I purchased on an impulse nine months ago. I bought it, but ... When are you supposed to step on the pedal? ... I was that much of an utter beginner, but, unlike the guitar which I struggled to make a sound with, if you hit a key on the keyboard, it makes a sound, so it was fun and interesting; I worked on it every day, and it was more like play than practice, and I came to improve. But, although I can play it, I don't know what chords I'm playing and I can't read music, I just remember by the movement of my fingers. So if I make a mistake, I have to start over from the beginning or I won't know what I'm doing. This is the odd state to which I've progressed. So it was a very nervous recital.

I think my staff were the ones who were most nervous. I had never played for anyone when I said to them, 'I want to try playing the piano!' Everyone half-believed and half-disbelieved me -- Are you really going to play!? -- and they were more anxious than I was, the one sitting at the piano.

At the performance, there were some parts I played well, and some parts I made mistakes on. Although I wanted to do everything perfectly, for me, there is meaning in my simply having done it. I always want to express my gratitude through my singing, but I can't express it on my own. I've always been irritated by my inability to play instruments. So this time, I wanted to accomplish it on my own.

And this challenge was a good opportunity for me to affirm to myself that, if there's something you want to do, whatever it is, you can do it. There is no such thing as 'too late'. If you like it, if you want to do it, you should be unafraid and do it. I wanted to express that to everyone.

When I sang 'Pocket o Kara ni Shite', which has become a standard song for my lives, in the encore, I was so happy to hear everyone's wonderful voices as they sang along. Whenever I hear that 'la la la', I feel truly grateful for having been born. I want to be better than I was the last time I saw you. With that goal in my heart, I will continue to do my best. When we meet next, I want both of us to have grown more and to shine. Everyone who wasn't able to participate this time, I'm looking forward to being able to meet you at the next opportunity.
As always, thank you. And thank you for celebrating my birthday.
With so much gratitude that even if I were to say it a million times it wouldn't be enough,

Sakamoto Maaya

<P>
At the final Tokyo performance, the sakura blossoms were falling and I was given a surprise cake, and I cried. But my staff weren't done yet, there was another surprise later. When I went backstage, there was a large potted flower there. And there were message cards from every staff and band member attached. 'The tour was fun,' 'Let's do this together again,' 'Keep singing lots', and so on: everyone's words touched my heart, and I ended up crying even more than I did on stage. Shit! They got me!
I played the piano this time because I wanted to do something by myself, but even so, none of this would be possible on my own. I'm here because of everyone else! Love to my staff and band who supported me!! Thank you! I am a happy person.

*maaya*
It's such a sweet message. Maaya's I.D. entries are always great to read.

The 'Triangler' special page is up. There's a small video titled 'Video Comment Pre-Release Ver.' from Maaya in which she comments on 'Triangler':
Hello to everyone who is looking at my official I.D. page. I'm Sakamoto Maaya. My new single 'Triangler' will go on sale on April 23rd. This time, I, Sakamoto Maaya, the animation 'Macross Frontier' -- for which this song is the opening theme -- and, for the first time in a while, Kanno Youko, have collaborated as a triangle on this project. It is a very structured composition. Please look forward to the release.

This time, triangle is the theme of this song, and the motif of triangles comes up frequently. You've probably seen the single jacket. And we've also shot a PV. You can see the full size on my official homepage, so, by all means, until the release, please watch and enjoy the PV. Triangles appear in the PV as well. I think that from now on, you won't be able to ignore triangles when you see them when you're out on the town, in your daily life. Everyone, please enjoy this triangular world view. I think it may be hard to wait until the release date, but please, keep your spirits up and look forward to it.
I never really noticed that it was a triangular collaboration ... There's even a little triangle on the page with Maaya, Macross F, and Kanno, each at one point. XD I love it.

'Youko' is a more exact (for lack of a better term) way of rendering her name in the Roman alphabet. Her name isn't spelt 'Yoko', with only two syllabic hiragana, it's spelt よう子, よ(Yo)う(u)子(ko).

Hot News (4/07 Edition)

◎ Recent △
My new song 'Triangler' goes on sale this month! Macross is also finally on air. Please enjoy it along with the opening animation for Macross. This song is definitely suited for karaoke! Remember it and definitely sing it passionately at karaoke. I think you'll be refreshed!
◎ Recent PV
I've been rewarded for doing my best through the very, very cold PV shoot for 'Triangler', I think it's turned out to be a very interesting PV. It places focus on an analogue feel. In the scene where I'm turning a drawn triangle, we shot me scene by scene drawing on a glass board, and it was done in a method similar to clay animation.
◎ Recent Fanclub
My event tour for 'IDLING STOP!' has ended safely. I wrote about it on my I.D. page already, but I was supported my musicians and reliable staff, and I had a lot of fun singing. Every one who participated at each event, thank you very much!
◎ Recent Birthday
My staff celebrated my 28th birthday with me this year as well. They said they'd take me out to eat whatever I liked, so I decided on sukiyaki at Asakusa! Oh, it was delicious!! I indulged and had lots of large and soft beef.
◎ Recent Game
Although I usually don't play games at all, the one game I'm really good at, and I really like it, is 'Sim City'. Of course I also have the DS 'Sim City 2'! It's so interesting!! Sim City is the best.
