This situation must been very awkward both for Maaya and her fans.
Well, first, personally, I'm not really agree when Maaya decided to continue to hold the concert. But I think, this is the best she can do as a professional performer. Music is her life, and she realized it, that her voice and her songs that could keep her fans happy and feel solace in this sad situation.
I wish Maaya and her fans in Japan all the best..

so the opening song is an energetic, up tempo song :D
thanks for the head ups dily..

what i have in mind before is that maaya and the management should minimize the whole concert in form of duration (less number of tracks), space (stages) and energy (electricity, lights) and after selecting carefully the tunes, they should also change the entire instrument arrangement so that it will be less "noisy".. like in a form of unplugged accoustic. But after reading deltafour's translation i don't think maaya aimed for silent or calm music at all. In the opposite of that, her aim is to bring joy and happiness to attendant, although she seems aware that in these kind of situation, people in the area of damage wouldn't too much care about music, she hopes that in the near future, things could slowly turn to normal again and she could perform at those areas. Such an optimistic view.

And what a reading. As usual, maaya's depth of mind is something you can't easily measure just like that.. She often open a paragraph with phrases like, "my personal opinion", and they does make sense to me. Good job for following word-by-word there, deltafour, so as other time too, i feel grateful for your fantastic translation. :)

This is my first time posting here -- I've been a fan of Maaya for years now, but never had something to contribute.

I was at the Osaka concert yesterday evening. My first time watching her live. It was a strange evening - you can tell she was struggling with the balance between going on normally and trying to address Japan's crisis.

The show opened with Maaya coming on stage, thanking the audience for coming and pointing out a copy of her blog post that was distributed on entrance for people who didn't have the chance to read it. The setlist had some changes from the original plan (she pointed them all out), but was mostly unchanged - she altered her choice of old songs to better fit the situation but most of the show was still the songs from the new album. The MC segments were mostly about going on with life after the quake and some reflections on the current state of Tokyo, but she also did a funny little segment about trying out new Osaka food, to lighten the mood.

One interesting bit is that she thought of changing the planned Osaka exclusive song because it didn't seem appropriate, but ultimately decided to keep it when she realized the words take new meaning after the quake. I'm glad she did - it was Bokura no Rekishi, which I didn't listen to in ages. There was also a string of songs to a piano-only arrangement, and they were the best part of the show. Moonlight is amazing when it's just Maaya and a piano.

Next time, I hope I can see her perform when Japan is in a much better shape.

me too...

@tansuikabutsu
thank you very much, we really wanna know about the latest performances..
i couldn't blame her if she didn't perform like she normally does.. it's a complicated situation from the beginning. bokura no rekishi?.. wonder if the lyric link with the tsunami and earthquake incident. :)
*look through the translation again*

it's glad no particular bad thing happened there though. next time it'll be better for her, i hope.

just a question: did she smile a lot or not..? thanks.

Yeah I was using too many CPU cycles and got canned. Had to speak to tech support. Should be alright now.
