Flying dog posted news that Maaya will be performing the OP song for the upcoming Tamayura - Hitotose TV anime. The title is "Welcome Back". Maaya also sang the OP for the OAV series last year, which was a cover of Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta Nara. This new song will likely be on the new concept album, but a single is possible too.

I only have watched the 1st eps of tamayura... gonna continue watch it later so it can connect with this tv anime *though being an ova it's not really that necessary

More news from flying dog... Maaya is also performing the OP song for the upcoming Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing anime. And this song is a collaboration with School Food Punishment! I'm so excited about this because SFP has been my favorite band over the past couple years.

Double a-side coming up? I'd really like this to be an amazing double a-side leading into a concept album of all new songs on top...

If anyone has seen the original Last Exile series the OP/ED was pretty good. Way back in the good old days when Gonzo didn't use cheap fan service and dodgy CGI to replace things like good characters, quality story lines and attention to detail. I loved Exile enough to forgive the rushed ending. Maaya's last two songs for Gonzo (before they folded) were great so I hope a new Maaya song will be a good start for Gonzo reborn (please don't suck this time Gonzo, please, please don't ruin Exile for me).

At first listen it sounds a little...chaotic? I hope with a full opening it'll sound better as it sounds like it could be awesome....although the orchestral music on the preview sounds almost...Yoko Kanno like!

Buddy sounds just like I thought it would - if you're unfamiliar with School Food Punishment's other work they wrote and sang the amazing ED for Higashi no Eden, Futuristic Imagination, and musically Buddy sounds very similar to their style. They also did the ED recently for C. They specialise in very chaotic soundscapes.

I liked it a lot although obviously I can't really parse the lyrics! It'll be interesting to see what the verse sounds like, and what the whole sonic texture is like in better quality. Interesting choice of collaborators!

I think hearing it in low quality on my computer speakers doesn't help ^^;; everything sounds kind of tinny!

I woluld like those themes in singles, I love hearing maaya´s instrumental versions...

So guess how these two new songs are being released? A single... on the upcoming concept album? How does 2 singles sound? That's right, flying dog just posted details on two new Maaya singles out in October!! I don't think she has released this many cds in a year since 2003!

Both singles will be released in regular and limited editions. The limited editions will include second disc with recordings from Maaya's June Tokyo concert. Too many details to copy & paste here, so check them out Maaya's official site (or mine when I have a chance to post them).
