But "kodomo no koro ni yonda"--just doesn't suggest 'as a child' to me. Unless the phrase 'kodomo no koro' MEANS 'as a child'?? Does it?

It means "when i was a child" more or less...
koro can be translated as a "period of time" or that kind of meaning.
Like when you say 'gakusei no koro' means "when i was a student"
or something like that.

All right, I've edited the translation to reflect the changes Also the one for "Unison" because I noticed some things I could fix there too. takeyuki, in the future please feel free to look over any other translations and point things out, if you want to. I'd like the translations to be as accurate as possible, and there were definitely trouble spots in all the songs.
