If you're fast you might be noticing that we're being spammed with porn threads - I'm deleting them as I find them but for the sake of everything don't even open the threads! A) tis not worth it and b) I'm pretty sure something about the spam tracks the no. of views the threads have and posts more.

I'm deleting them, just don't open the threads!

EDIT: Merri is kindly sorting the problem for us :) (as you may have noticed by non-X-rated forums!

From now on registration is forced; I may do some more changes in case spambots register through to post (happened on other forum with gmail accounts).

The second wave used Gmail accounts. I've banned Gmail for now.

I have now changed the Visual Confirmation to be a much harder one, although it may be even too hard for humans. Needs better solutions... but I'm too tired to figure out those for now. I'm having a really zombie day today.

I have made a radical change: Garden of Everything is no longer readable publicly. The forum's name can be seen by anyone, but no post can be read.

I've done this to make it less attractive to advertise on Maaya's – be the advertisement spam by bots or humans.

It is also increasingly difficult finding the line for what is an allowed advertisement spam and which isn't. I know people tend to link to their sites in signatures, but when the link goes to a company site then I tend to remove the link once I see it.

Now there is finally a properly working blocker for spambot accounts. Been around a day and has blocked some 20 accounts already.

dont be too hard on urself merri... rest is also more important. :)
i agree about the thing that related to the registration thing (confirmation image thing), but hopefully it wouldn't affect those fresh-full-of-enthusiast people to join maaya.. :P
and thanks (once more) for the hard job..

I may have deleted some users who weren't spambots; there simply was too many at one point. I did some additional cleanup now that the new spambot blocker is in place. I don't want to get the accounts even if they have trouble doing posts. It is sad in a way how rare it is to get new real user registrations :/

at one point before, i was thinking of making an advertisement about maayas on facebook... but since i don't have a credit card and dun really sure if that would really makes things better (more users = better, yup if they're not just statues), so i cancelled it.. :P
