From Maaya's official site! Maaya will be covering the famous Japanese song 'Yasashisa ni tsutsumareta nara'. You might have heard this on the end of the Studio Ghibli film 'Kiki's Delivery Service'. The original is by Yumi Arai. It's a really good song! It gets covered a lot.

Anyway, the song will be reworked by the popular guitar duo DEPAPEPE and used as the opening to the OVA 'Tamayura' (look on the link above)

Cool! I think Maaya would really suit this song (I'm imagining the Sotte Bosse cover version with Maaya's vocals...?) and here is the Tamayura blog entry confirming it:

And just a random observation but they've completely replaced Maaya's homepage news section with that pop up window of 'latest news' on Victor's site instead. Maybe it is easier for them to administrate all their artists' news that way.

i watched kiki delivery service.. but in such horrible quality video that time, made me wondered how the song sounded..
watched the youtube video at another time, still haven't got the feel of it..

I listened to DEPEPE on my friend's computer yesterday and they are really good. Really, really fresh, summery. If that was anything to go by this cover is going to be a ray of sunshine in a cold season
