Any ManganimeCon near you?

A month ago I went to a manganime convention (convention, meeting, reunion, expo, happening... I don't know which word I should use :? ) and I'm wondering if there is that kind of event in your countries.
The one I went was in Jerez (I think that city is mainly known internationaly as Sherry) and it lasted a weekend (11-13 March). I only went Saturday.
There you could find contests (karaoke, cosplay, DDR...) exhibitions (Martial-arts, kendo, origami), workshops (manga, nihongo, go, origami, japanese cuisine), projections, stands and even a "discotaku", a disco which music was j-pop, j-rock and anime related (yes, very otaku
).
That event is organised by an association (a local Genshiken
) , so the enter is free.
I didn't find any Maaya stuff. Only an Escaflowne OST. Well, and an imported Maya the Bee plush, but I thought that bought it would be embarrased for a 30 year old fellow.
The same weekend there was another "Con" in Granada (an immportant one) and that weekend have been one in Madrid.
Well, what about your countries?
PD: Sorry about my English, it's late at night...
